Winchester City Council is working on plans to transform the site of the old Friarsgate Medical Centre as part of the wider regeneration of the Central Winchester area – and would love to hear your views.
The Friarsgate Medical Centre site has been vacant for six years and the plan to demolish the building looks to address recent issues of trespass and vandalism in the area.
In its place will be a brand-new public space for people to enjoy whilst plans for the longer-term regeneration of the site are progressed.
The new park will be fully accessible to all and will create a route between Friarsgate and the Broadway. The space will help to revitalise the area creating open areas for small events to be held, in collaboration with local organisations, with seating and lighting. The park will generate green space to enhance biodiversity, create a new habitat for pollinators and will be carefully managed and maintained.
