Dogs Worrying Sheep

The Parish Council has been asked to bring the matter of sheep worrying to dog owners’ attention and to issue a reminder that people in charge of dogs can be found guilty of the offence of ‘worrying’ livestock on agricultural land.  Worrying is widely defined under the law as including  chasing livestock in such a way as may reasonably be expected to cause injury or suffering to the livestock (or in the case of females, abortion or loss or reduction of their produce); or being at large (not on a lead or otherwise under close control) in a field containing sheep.
