Following reports that ploughing activities had commenced in Texas Field, the PC contacted Natural England for confirmation that the farmer had fully complied with the Environmental Impact Assessment (Agriculture) (England) (No.2) Regulations 2006. These regulations require an EIA screening decision from Natural England before any cultivation can be undertaken on land that had not been cultivated in the last 15 years. The PC believe that Texas Field was last cultivated more than 15 years ago. Natural England are currently discussing with the individuals concerned their responsibilities under the EIA regulations and works in the field have halted in the meantime. The listing of the field as an Asset of Community Value did not change the ownership of the field but the existence of the ACV listing has been drawn to the attention of Natural England.
