Welcome to Sustainable Oliver’s Battery. This is a place where you can find information about how to be involved in making your life more sustainable. As a community we wish to play our part in helping reduce the impact of climate change and enhance the biodiversity of the parish.
On 4th September the first Green Picnic is running on the Battery to spread the message – Think Global, act local. If you have been to the event this is where you will find the information that we had displayed so that you can read it at your leisure and look at the links.
Carbon footprints
Winchester City Council commissioned the Centre for Sustainable Energy to work with WinACC (Winchester Action on Climate Change) to engage and inspire parish councils and communities across the Winchester District to respond to the climate emergency. Starting in April 2021, surveys were sent to parish councils and community climate groups to find out where climate emergency activity is already happening and the support that communities need to respond to the climate emergency.
Now CSE have produced a carbon footprint report for this parish, with an overview of where our parish’s carbon emissions come from.
You can see on the WinACC website a list of every parish in the district and the city wards too, where you can look up their carbon footprint

The project was supported by webinars to discuss the detail and implications of these reports. If you missed the webinars, you can catch up by clicking on this link watch the webinar
Climate emergency action days in the autumn will support the parish council and our community in developing climate action plans. The first one is scheduled for 1st October and being organised by WeCAN. WeCAN is Winchester Climate Action Network – working together towards a carbon neutral Winchester District.
WeCAN is for anyone who is involved in action on the climate emergency in their local community. Find out more by emailing wecan@winacc.org.uk.
